Inside the resealable zipper pouch you’ll find only one ingredient – Fair Trade Turbinado Raw Cane Sugar. Grown on sugar plantations by TJ's suppliers, the sugar cane is cut by hand, then delivered to the mill where the juice is simply crushed from the cane. The evaporation process produces perfect sugar crystals, retaining some of the original molasses, giving its subtle caramel flavor and light, golden-brown colour. Turbinado sugar is also known as Raw Sugar because it’s minimally processed (this is the raw-est form of cane sugar you’ll get – completely raw cane sugar is not suitable for consumption).
This Cane Sugar can be easily substitutable for brown sugar. Make a cinnamon streusel with 2 tablespoon of TJ’s Turbinado Sugar and 2 teaspoons of TJ’s Ground Cinnamon for cakes or cupcakes. For frosting, start with a cup of TJ’s Organic Powdered Sugar and your choice of milk, then keep adding 1 tablespoon Turbinado Sugar until your desired thickness of frosting. Or sprinkle with chopped pecans if you desire a bit of a sweet n’ salty crunch. You’ll even love it as a body, foot, or face exfoliant that you can scrub, rinse and repeat! It smells delightful and works wonders.
