And when they came back with what would eventually become TJ’s Sweet Chili Black-Eyed Pea Tempeh Chips, we were overjoyed.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eThe first twist in these Chips is that they’re made with Tempeh that’s made from fermented Black-Eyed Peas, as opposed to soybeans. Right off the bat, this gives the Tempeh a mild flavour and slightly starchier texture that takes exceptionally well to frying into a crispy Chip. The second twist is that they’re seasoned with a combo of sugar, Chili powder (which provides quite a kick!), and garlic, which ably complements the inherent umami notes of the Tempeh.
